‘Networking in the City’ are launching a new evening curry club in Wilmslow to try and get people working together to boost business in the area.

The successful group which attracts businesses from the property, construction and Finance sectors, regularly attracts 60+ people to their lunch meetings and the new group aims to meet the requirement for busy professionals to meet in the evenings.

The property market has showed a downturn the past couple of years and the group wants to encourage businesses to start working together to grow in 2012 through the sharing of idea and contacts.

The new East Cheshire group based at the Sitar Indian restaurant in Wilmslow launches on February 8^th it will be run by Lindsay Petrie of Potential Recruitment and Debra Carroll of Debra Carroll Interiors and promises to be a strong group for creating business in Cheshire.

“We have seen the curry clubs grow in popularity over the past 30 years and people comment on the relaxed atmosphere, great food and informal networking opportunities.  Nobody is forced to stand up and talk for 60 seconds and business comes more naturally over dinner.”

The North West has been a strong area of growth for Networking in the City.  The expanding company has 12 curry clubs UK wide in Manchester, Bowdon, London, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, Hull, Chester, Nottingham, Lancaster, South Lakes and East Cheshire with plans to open more in 2012.

‘Networking in the City’ are hosting a business lunch in Manchester to raise awareness of charitable group, Refugee Action.

The successful networking group which attracts businesses from the property, construction and Finance sectors, regularly attracts 60+ people to their lunch meetings and are dedicating their February 29^th event to the cause.

The event, held at the Rajdoot Indian restaurant in St Ann’s Square is in support of Refugee Action’s first ever World Food Night and will supply tasty Indian food in order to raise plenty of ‘dough’ to help refugees!

Gemma Masingiri from Refugee Action will be speaking about an innovative Refugee Action project that’s changing lives in Manchester.

“The World Food Night campaign Refugee Action are running has given us a great opportunity to get businesses involved in supporting our local community.  In an area as diverse as Manchester, it is important to get businesses as well as individuals looking at the bigger picture of our society.

The world food theme ties in well with Curry club and helping raise awareness of great causes alongside people doing business means our attendees can make a real difference.”

Just £10 worth of donations will pay for hot drinks for more than 20 destitute asylum seekers living on the street, who can also have a shower and receive clean clothes, so anything raised will really be making a difference.

‘Refugee Action is delighted about teaming up with Networking in the City and their Marketing Partner, Whale Marketing, for World Food Night.  The event, working with professionals across Manchester will help some of the most marginalised people in the city.’

Networking in the City have been running for 32 years and even have a plaque outside the Rajdoot where the Manchester curry club has been held since its launch.

The Leeds Curry Club saw a record number of attendees in December 2011, and hopes to continue the increase in numbers into 2012. A spokesperson at the firm said; “It’s great to attract such high profile speakers and attendees to our events month on month and we are very grateful of the commitment our regular attendees have shown throughout the year.”

As the Leeds Curry Club takes a break for January, Joe Swindells will be guest speaker on Wednesday 1 February.
